RoboCup 2003 Symposium, Padova
Simulation Tools for Real Robots
SIG
Overview
Date: July 11th, 2003. 14h15.
Place: Italy, Padova, symposium
room.
Aim: demos and discussions on
Simulations Tools for Real Robots.
Schedule: After a short
presentation of this new SIG by Olivier Michel, several demonstrations
were performed (ten minutes for each demo). Then, there was little time
remaining for a round table discussion.
Demos
Daniel Polani, XRaptor: a multi-agent simulator, http://www.informatik.uni-mainz.de/~polani/XRaptor/XRaptor.html
Thomas Röfer, SimRobot and the Sony Four-Legged Robot League, http://www.tzi.de/simrobot/
Brett Browning, ÜberSim, http://www-2.cs.cmu.edu/~coral/ubersim.html
Oliver Obst, Modular 3D simulator, http://www.uni-koblenz.de/fb4/publikationen/gelbereihe/RR-3-2003.pdf
Olivier Michel, Realistic legged robot simulator with transfer to real
robots, http://cyberboticspc1.epfl.ch/aibo/
Alexander Kleiner, robot simulator, http://www.informatik.uni-freiburg.de/~simsrv
Ansgar Bredenfeld, Robot Simulation and Rapid Prototyping Tool DDSim, http://www.ddsim.de
ThomWarmerdam, Mobile Robot Simulator, Philips Corp.
[some unscheduled demo from Japanese people is missing here, to be
fixed soon hopefully]
Round Table Discussion
During about twenty minutes, a round table discussion was held between
the speakers and the audience. Questions from the audience mainly
intended to better understand what exactly offers each simulation tool
presented during the demos. It was hence decided to provide a
comparative table, so that reseachers and teachers can better make a
difference between the various simulation tools available and
eventually make a better choice. Such a comparative
table is now available on the web site of the SIG.
